This week was an historic week for New Jersey and the United States; in the words of Charles Dickens “it was the best of times; it was the worst of times”.
Last Tuesday, voters all over New Jersey rejected the tax and spend policies of Jon Corzine and elected Chris Christie Governor of New Jersey. Along with a Republican victory in the Virginia Governor's race, voters of all political affiliations sent a loud, clear message that they were unhappy with the Corzine/Obama/Pelosi/Holt agenda of government intervention into every aspect of our lives, paid for with our tax dollars.
You would think that Rush Holt and the Democrats in the House of Representatives would have gotten that message. But they didn't.
On Saturday, the House voted for a massive government takeover of the United States healthcare system with not only the vote, but the vocal support of Rush Holt. The bill includes massive spending and tax increases, over $600 billion in cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and the public option, which will essentially make private health insurance a thing of the past. Once again, Congressman Holt has proven he is out of touch with his constituents.
(As an aside, the bill only passed after pro-life Democrats insisted on an amendment which prohibited the very abortion funding that Rush Holt insists wasn't part of the bill. Holt voted against that amendment as well)
Mr. Holt will be holding a Town Meeting on Thursday, November 12th from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at the Grover Middle School, 10 Southfield Road, West Windsor, NJ 08550. This is an excellent opportunity to voice your opinion about this vote and his recent votes to fund ACORN, impose Cap and Trade and keep tax cheat Charles Rangel in charge of writing our tax code.
Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend due to a professional obligation, but I encourage you to attend and have your voice heard. There will be Campaign staff present, to take names and contact information and hand out Halfacre for Congress material.
Now that the gubernatorial election is over, my campaign is mobilizing our grassroots supporters. Many of you have previously volunteered for the Campaign, and we are ready to move. We need County Coordinators, Municipal Coordinators, phone bank volunteers, lawn sign volunteers, and people willing to host meet and greet events throughout the District. If you want to get involved in this historic campaign, please send us an email.
